Anshu Jamsenpa conferred KK Handiqui National Fellowship Award

Governor of Assam Dr. Jagdish Mukhi presented the Krishna Kanta Handiqui National Fellowship  to mountaineer Anshu Jamsenpa in a function organised at Pragjyoti Cultural Complex Guwahati last Monday. The award award consisting of citation, trophy and Rs. 6 lakh.

Anshu thanked KKHSOU for the National Fellowship award and reiterated that Mountaineering & Adventure Sports Policy is the need of the hour. She also announced in the august house about the year 2018 been declared as ‘Adventure Tourism Year’ by the Government of India which she said will give a big boost to its awareness and promotion throughout the country.

Vice Chancellor Dr Hitesh Deka while thanking Anshu for accepting the KK Handiqui National Fellowship award said that she is a symbol of empowered woman and a book on her adventurous journey of life is in the pipeline. KKHSOU Registrar Dr Aroop Jyoti Choudhury appreciated Anshu’s grit and determination which the people around the world saw when she broke the Guinness World Record held by Churim Sherpa by climbing Mt Everest twice in five days.

Vice Chancellor of  Dibrugarjh University Dr Alak Kumar Buragohain, Vice Chancellor<b> </b>of Cotton University Prof. Bhabesh Ch. Goswami and several other top intellectuals of North East states congratulated Anshu on being conferred with the national fellowship award.

During the function, former Chief Commissioner of India H S Brahma received Krishna Kanta Handiqui National award and Ms Sharmistha Pritam received the fellowship.

Governor Mukhi also presented scholarship of rupees one Lakh each to four female UPSC final aspirants under APJ Abdul Kalam Students Welfare Mission of the university.
