Adventure Rock Hill opens for visitors

The ‘Adventure Rock Hill’ at Jatayupara Nature Park, Kerala’s first build operate transfer (BOT) model eco-tourism project rechristened as Jatayu Earth’s Center, is now open for travellers and visitors. It covers four hills at Chadayamangalam in the Kollam district, and the park will be fully operational by April 2018.

This Rock Hill will be open for groups of 10-100 people, with an entry fee of Rs 3,500 per person. This adventure zone provides over 20 different games including paintball, archery, laser tag, rifle shooting, rock climbing and rappelling for visitors.

Spread across 65 acres, the Jatayu Earth’s Center, once fully operational will include special activities such as camping, trekking, 6D theatre, a virtual reality museum, and an Ayurvedic Cave Resort.

“The center is considered to be an example of sustainable and eco-friendly tourism in the country, which is a result of an entire decade’s sustained dedication,” said Rajiv Anchal, the Concept Designer, Chairman and Managing Director of Jatayu Earth’s Center. He added that ‘jatayu’ symbolises an era when humans and other living beings cared for each other and lived together peacefully.

The tourism department has always been extremely keen to promote adventure tourism in order to attract vacationers from all corners of the world.

Mr. Kadakampally Surendran, the Tourism Minister, said “The government will promote more such projects across the state. Following this unique concept of responsible tourism, these initiatives also offer support to the local community and promote concepts like renewable energy and rainwater harvesting.”

According to Mr. P. Bala Kiran, the Tourism Director of Kerala, the newly-opened center will cater to the needs of a wide range of tourists including adventure enthusiasts, families,young travellers and couples. He said, “The visitors will have refreshing experiences while exploring the natural  beauty of the place.”
