Wildlife in the Antarctic

The vegetation in the Antarctic region consists largely of algae, lichens and mosses. Sea-birds in the Antarctic are closely related to the marine environment and get all their nourishment from this area. They spend their whole life at sea and are only on land during the breeding season. In the Antarctic there are three main groups of species that dominate among sea-birds. This is the penguin (seven species), albatros tendon (six species) and petrel (23 species).
