BSF men play Good samaritans to birds, wildlife in Jaisalmer

JAISALMER: BSF is not just responsible for the border. Cool rooms have been made to bring down the body temperature if any jawan is affected by heat stroke,” the DIG said. They have been provided with caps and special goggles to protect their eyes.

JAISALMER: BSF is not just responsible for the border. Safeguarding the resources of and inhabitants of border areas also form a part of their duty.At a time when the temperature at Indo-Pak border adjoining Jaisalmer is hovering around 46-48 degrees, the jawans are acting as saviour for cattle , birds and wildlife in border areas by providing them food, water and shelter. They are keeping water pots for birds and filling water ponds for the cattle and other animals.In addition, the jawans have made Pakshi Ghar (bird shelter) at every border outpost.Hundreds of birds come here to rest. The jawans also get soothing respite with their sweet sounds.Birds including sparrows, peacocks and cuckoo frequent these shelters.The scribe visited many border posts of BSF where the jawans were seen providing water and food grains to the birds.They were also replenishing waterholes through tankers for the cattle and other animals.

Water pots have been put up on large number of trees for birds.In such extreme weather, jawans have been directed to prevent themselves from heat wave by keeping lemon and onion with them at all times. They have been provided with caps and special goggles to protect their eyes.”Similarly, we have placed cooling plants in the barracks at many outposts to provide relief to BSF jawans.
