Bangalore University Staffer sets record!!!

The Bengalurean covered the Golden Quadrilateral and beyond up to Arunachal Pradesh

Forty-three-year-old R Chiranthana, who covered the entire country on his bike last year, has entered the India Book of World Records and World Records India. A 43-year-old employee with Bangalore University, Chiranthana has become the first person to cover all four corners of the country solo on a 150 cc bike.

The Bengalurean covered the Golden Quadrilateral and beyond up to Arunachal Pradesh, a distance of 14,104 kms, on his Yamaha FZS 150 cc bike with just Rs 40,000 in his pocket.”I am elated with this achievement. This encourages me to take up further long expeditions,” he told  reporters after he got a medal and certificate on March 24 acknowledging his record-breaking journey.

Having begun his journey from Jnanabharathi Campus on June 17, 2016, Chiranthana covered Mumbai, Rajasthan, New Delhi and reached Srinagar on June 27, 2016. In the next stretch, he covered Zojila pass, Kargil, Leh, Kardungla, Pang valley, Keylong and Rohtang Pass in just three days and reached Manali on July 1, 2016. After travelling through UP and Bihar, Chirantana reached Alipurdaur near Guwahati on July 6, 2016.  His journey of North-East and Eastern India began from here. He reached Dibrugarh and Parasuramkund in Arunachal Pradesh and returned to Dibrugarh to head towards West Bengal. His visit of eastern states was completed within five days as he entered Visakhapatnam. Chiranthana reached the southernmost tip of the country, Kanyakumari, on 17 July, 2016, covering Madurai and Chennai on July 16. His journey ended on July 20, 2016, as he returned to his starting point at BU campus. He rode through Thiruvananthapuram, Erimeli, Dindigal, Hosur and reached Bengaluru after 32 days.

“After I reached Bengaluru, I contacted India Book of World Records to know whether anybody had travelled this stretch. I was asked to send my details. I was told that nobody had covered this stretch in a solo expedition,” he said. His expedition has also entered Limca Book of Records. Also Read: In ride of a lifetime, Bengalurean
